ELEGANT SMOKE COLORED GLASS PEDESTAL OPEN SALT CELLAR DIP INDIVIDUAL NUT DISH This is a really beautiful and unusual little blown round salt cellar or individual nut dish sitting on a pedestal foot. I do not know who the maker was or the pattern. Regardless, it is a high-quality piece of elegant hand-made blown glass. It is made in a smoke-colored glass and a has a “pinched” 4-section stem. I am gradually selling my salt cellar and individual nut dish collection that at one time was over 1,800 pieces. This particular piece has been in my collection since 1985. I find no photo of a piece exactly like this in either of my salt books (5,000 Open Salts by William Heacock & Patricia Johnson and The Open Salt Compendium by Sandra Jzyk & Nina Robertson) that appears to match this one. That always leads me to the conclusion that this must be a hard to find piece. A beautiful and desirable little piece! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. Age and Condition It probably to dates to circa 1920s -1930s. The salt is in excellent mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. Approximate Dimensions About 2.5” (6.4 cm) in diameter at the top rim and sits about 2.125” (5.4 cm) off the table. Approximate Weight About 1.25 ounces (36 grams).
