If you have been looking endlessly for that “one and only eastern maple” to capture the “essence” one vintage correct 1958-1960 Les Paul* for your dream re-top conversion with a “classic and traditional” figuring that is timeless with your aged burst finish, this eastern maple with “flame” figuring is an ideal candidate for you! If you are looking for that special ingredient for that vintage “beauty of the burst*” project and require a period correct old grown, seasoned material- this might be just the IDEAL “Book-Matched Set” for your deep dish carved top re-top or conversion! You are looking at a “matched set”, flame figured eastern maple (acer rubrum) with excellent growth rings. This set has very good natural chatoyance with medium size flame figuring pattern coverage present on both face of the surface grain and both………..up for bid is for one (1) full curl, slab sawn/flat sawn grain, “FLAME” pattern, seasoned Eastern maple (acer rubrum), electric guitar luthier, book-matched set! This has very good chatoyance with very good/mild figuring pattern and has developed a creamier sapwood patina over time! Very good growth rings, mild flame maple figuring with excellent tap tone! Ideal for those that want an ideal period top for an LP conversion or a re-top! LP single-cut overlay shown and photograph for visual reference to show approximate fit and size. LP single-cut pencil outline about 17-1/2” long, 13” wide at the lower bout (the waist pencils outline is wider about 13-1/8”). This book-matched set is consisted of a left side panel and a right side panel to form a guitar top set. Each panel is approximately .780” thick. Each panel has been jointed planed one face and surfaced the opposite face. This will require a fine shallow pass through the drum sander prior to glue up. A deep dish carved top with the end result of 5/8” finish carved thickness. One side edge has been jointed planed flat- opposite side edge has been ripped cut; will require to be surfaced to remove the saw burn marks. Will require additional surfacing prior to butt joint glue up to form a center seam. Dimensions in inches (approximate for each panel): Left panel: 20-1/8” long x 7” wide and .780” thick. Right panel: 20-1/8” long x 7” wide and .780” thick. Total width of right and left panel = 14”+/- ^Please see photo’s for reference on measurements. Air dried/kiln dried/seasoned (approximately 8 percent moisture content). Will require additional drying time and shop acclimation to your final build specifications. This will need properly acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Photographed outdoors with natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal.
