Vintage done just right… This 1978 Rickenbacker Bass is about as cool as you can get. Starting with its crazy visual appeal and getting to the heart of things with its sonic capabilities, once this Jetlo beauty is in your hands, you will be ready to soar! Cosmetically in great condition, you can see from the pictures that aside from a chip on the backside, this monster has been pretty well taken care of. There are minor dings, dents, scuffs and scratches throughout, but nothing overtly deep or gnarly. This 4001 is sure to bring a smile to any players face and will probably not stay on our shelf for long! The Rickenbacker 4001 is an electric bass that was manufactured by Rickenbacker as a two-pickup “deluxe” version of their first production bass, the single-pickup model 4000. This design, created by Roger Rossmeisl, was manufactured between 1961 and 1981, when it was replaced by an updated version dubbed the Rickenbacker 4003. The iconic upper bout and headstock silhouettes of the Rickenbacker 4001 are the most salient characteristics of the “crested-wave” body shape designed by luthier Roger Rossmeisl for Rickenbacker’s model 4000. The 4001 model features a neck-through construction, a full-wood body, fretboard with metal strings (originally flat-wound, though many players replaced them with round-wounds), twin truss rods, triangle inlays, two pickups, two volume and two tone dials, selector switch,[2] and wiring for Rick-O-Sound (standard in models post-1971). Beautiful rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl “shark tooth” inlays. Frets show some light wear, but have plenty of life in them. Open-back nickel tuners are in perfect working condition. 1 11/16″ nut width; 33 1/4″ scale length. Body: Neck-thru design with solid maple wings. Top-loading bridge with adjustable saddles. Single-ply white plexi pickguard. Pickups: Rickenbacker Hi Gain single coils. Dual volume & tone controls with 3-way toggle switch; mono & stereo outputs. All electronics are in good working condition. Case: Hardshell case included. Please see Picture. It has just been professionally set up and dialed in for optimal tone and playability. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been leveled / dressed / polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor – a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent.
