Up for auction is not only a vintage watch, but a vintage piece of art. The watch is composed of 14k rose gold, and the bracelet is accented with 20 gorgeous rubies and 15 diamonds. It’s hard to tell the carat weight of the stones, but using some calculations based on the stones’ mm measurements, it appears there is around 3 carats of rubies and 2 carats of diamonds. The bracelet has a door that flips open to expose the watch. The brand on the face of the watch is Perfecta. I’ve seen a good number of watches with this same look and feel, so I have a feeling the bracelet was made by some jewelry maker, and the watch movement is the Perfecta piece. That’s just a guess, but I haven’t seen another Perfecta, but I have seen similar bracelets with watch mechanisms from different makers. In any case, it’s a beautiful retro piece, and the research shows this piece was probably made sometime in the 1930s to 1940s. I did take the movement out to confirm that the case is stamped 14k, and the band is stamped 14k as well. The total weight of the watch is 29.23g. The movement is tiny, so best guess is that only weighs about 3g, making the total gold content of the watch somewhere in the 26g range. All that shouldn’t really matter since this watch looks to keep perfect time and isn’t scrap, but at current prices, there should be somewhere in the ballpark of $1400 worth of gold in the watch. The watch winds smoothly, and based on a few days of testing, it does keep accurate time. This piece was part of an estate purchase, and as a result, I do not know anything about it’s true age or origin.
