DESIGNER/COMPANY/LOCATION: Fratelli Peruzzi: In 1860, Giuseppe Peruzzi and wife, Giulia, opened a silversmith shop in Florence, Italy specializing in handcrafted items. When Giuseppe’s brothers joined the business, Fratelli (brothers) Peruzzi was born. The business has become a huge success over the many decades and has been handed down through the generations, each honoring the uncompromising traditions of its founders. It is one of the oldest shops in Florence and still located on the historical Ponte Vecchio. Peruzzi jewelry is handmade and the early pieces are done in the Italian Renaissance style. In 1910, an American branch, Fratelli Peruzzi Silversmiths, opened in Boston, but closed its doors in 1973 when the owners moved back to Italy. The company thrives to this day and its handmade items are sold worldwide. Pieces marked simply with the Peruzzi stamp + Florence/Italy + a purity mark are those made prior to 5 Feb 1934 when a new Law required a uniformity of silversmith’s marks. CONDITION: Excellent Antique condition overall with very minor wear considering this is over a hundred-years-old. No issues to report.
