TORAH BIBLE JEWISH FRAGMENT 250-300 YRS OLD FROM ITALY On deer parchment, Very rare brown. book of Deuteronomy Episodes 31:19 – 33:3″The Song of Moses” You are bidding on a section of an ancient Manuscript hand-written Torah Scroll Fragment in the Original Hebrew Language on Deer Parchment. This hand-written fragment is approximately 250-300 years old and made from Deer skin. This Scroll came from Italy, it is prized for its beauty of its soft deer parchment and its beautiful writing. The parchment holds its ink well and the letters remain black and easy to read. The scroll has a beautiful brown deep color like scrolls that come from early Italy origins. This deep color is due to the process used in making the scroll, this process ages to a deeper Brown color over the centuries. Torah Fragments like these are extremely rare and seldom seen in synagogues or available due to their age. The Torah Scroll considering its age is well preserved and in good condition and will stay beautiful with care for centuries to come. Sephardi Jews in ItalySince 1442, when Spain took over Naples, many Sephardi Jews moved to Southern Italy. After being expelled from Spain (1492) and Portugal (1495), they settled in central and northern Italy. Isaac Abarbanel was one notable refugee. Over time, more Jews who had converted to Christianity in Spain and Portugal joined them. Despite facing prosecution for practicing Judaism, they settled in Italy, avoiding areas controlled by the Pope. The Popes allowed some settlement in Ancona due to trade links with Turkey.
