The Fujikura 70S Fusion Splicer is a fully ruggedized, fiberoptic core alignment fusion splicer, providing consistent, low loss, splice performance. The advanced design streamlines the steps required to complete splices, resulting in greater productivity. Configurable automation features allow you to customize the operation of the machine to best suit your particular splicing technique and process. This is important when splicing special fibers, especially ones with core diameters less than the standard SMF-28, and when splice leads must be extremely short. The photonics industry continues to rely on this fusion splicer to make the quickest, lowest loss splices in single mode fibers. The rugged construction resists shock, rain and dust, and can withstand a 30-inch drop test. Ruggedness and durability are greatly enhanced by a mirror-less optical system and severe-impact resistant monitor. Two key features include an automated wind protector and a tube heater which has been developed to reduce the number of operational steps for quicker splicing times. The wind protection system greatly facilitates the splicing process by closing against the environment when the splice is performed, followed by an automatic tensile strength test, then opening when completed. The splice is then situated within a splice protector sleeve and placed within the heating clamshell system that shrinks the protection sleeve sealing the fiber splice against possible environmental mechanical stress. The 70S has a high-resolution LCD monitor, a high-capacity rechargeable Li-ion battery pack for extended operation time, and technical info-both integrated and on CD disc. The battery provides power for approximately 200 splices. A super rugged transport case and internal carrier tray performs as a mobile workstation while providing additional shock protection when shipping and at the work site.
