1868 ad for Children’s carriages, perambulators, hobby horses, etc. This is a single sheet only which is over 150 years old. It was published in Philadelphia in 1868, in an unusual volume titled Musical Album, which alternated pages of sheet music with advertisements for local businesses. This sheet promotes children’s carriages and other wheeled vehicles built by J.A. Yost, a manufacturer located on Girard Ave. in Philadelphia, with a store on N. 9th St., near Arch St. The page features three attractive illustrations of the company’s products, a child’s rocking horse, a small three-wheeled covered carriage, and an old-time child’s vehicle that is sort of a tricycle with hand levers and a decorative horse head (see photos). On the reverse side of the sheet is the beginning of the music for the song, “Champagne Charlie.” The page measures 10×12.5 inches in size. It is in very good condition, printed on a strong quality of paper, with a light dampstain in its upper left margin, a 1/4″ tear in the paper at its bottom right edge, and some modest smudging along its edges (see photos). _gsrx_vers_1680 (GS 9.8.3 (1680))
