This billet measures approximately 16-7/16” long, 8” wide and 2” thick AND weighs approximately, 6.88 pounds or 6 pounds, 14.08 ounces. This is at the upper density range for maple at approximately 3.78 pounds OR 3 pounds, 12.8 ounces per board foot! Ideal for your Tele-Paul/Gustavsson Style Guitar! This offering is for one (1) exceptional and extraordinary example of eastern maple 8/4 billet from my reserve stock collection that has highly sought after “dense rippled flame figuring”! This eastern maple billet has excellent growth rings with dense curl concentration figuring structure present on the 2 wide face and the 2 sides. Kindly proceed and continue reading the whole entire description as this should/would be an ideal candidate for those looking for that special eastern maple for that Tele-Paul Style Guitar. Up or bid are for one (1) “DENSE RIPPLED FLAME” figuring, flat sawn/slab cut, sapwood, RARER seasoned Eastern HARD ROCK/SUGAR Maple (acer saccharum) electric guitar luthier 8/4 billet! This raw dimensional billet will be book-matched by the winning bidder to net a deep dish/carved top. This has excellent natural chatoyance, beautiful “dense rippled flame” figuring, excellent growth rings with excellent tap tone! PLEASE review all photo’s and make sure the given dimensions will work for your design and project specifications prior to bidding! Dimensions (approximate unit of measurements shown in inches): 16-7/16” long 8” wide 2” thick Air dried-kiln dried/well seasoned (currently 8-10 percent moisture content). Flat sawn/slab sawn cut. Sapwood two face/2 side edge- cream to yellow color tone is from oxidation and surface patina from aging over time. Rough surfaced plane 2 face/2 side edge rip. Will require to be jointed planed so both face and 2 sides are flat and square prior to book-matching by the winning bidder. This raw blank will require additional drying time per your acceptable build specifications and will also need need proper acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any). Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal. Physical weight is approximately 6.88 pounds. *****COMMENTS: About 95% clean and there is approximately 1/4” deep and 1-1/2” long seasoned checking at one end- you can surface out the 1/4” thickness off the material to yield a 1-3/4” thickness (as is 2” thick). SEE PHOTO’s and area mark in white for reference (end grain with lettering and close up of end of the one face). There is a corner area at the one that has a planer hit/skip/miss- it is approximately 1-15/16” thickness at this corner area. Fairly flat and will require additional surfacing and jointed planed/surfaced flat so it is parallel and has event thickness prior to book-matching by the winning bidder. *NOTE: To all international bidders- be aware that shipping this product to your country is subject to necessary duties and taxes that you will be responsible for.
